In early 2025, two newborn goats, Zoe and Gazmira, were discovered abandoned on the side of a road in the Canary Islands, Spain. A volunteer rescued them and took them to Finca Arkadia, a sanctuary on the island, where they received urgent care. Unfortunately, Zoe passed away due to severe health complications, likely a result of being abandoned at such a young age. Finca Arkadia suspects the twins were left behind by a shepherd due to their frail state, highlighting the harsh reality of animals in the dairy industry.

Gazmira, the surviving goat, is now being cared for at the sanctuary, where she will be raised with respect and compassion, free from exploitation. The sanctuary staff provided round-the-clock care for both kids, emphasizing the importance of early maternal care and the consequences of neglecting newborn animals. Gazmira's survival serves as a reminder of the ongoing need for animal rescue efforts and the impact of the dairy industry on vulnerable creatures.
