GEA Invests €4M in New Technology Center for Scaling Biotech and New Food Processes

GEA has invested €4 million in converting and equipping a new Application and Technology Center (ATC) for New Food and biotechnology in Sarstedt, Germany. This center offers pilot-scale infrastructure for companies developing production processes for precision fermentation, cell cultivation, and other biomanufacturing applications. The relocation brings it under the same roof as existing GEA staff, creating a continuity from initial pilot trials to full industrial plant design.

The center addresses the gap between promising laboratory results and commercially viable production, helping companies test the viability of their processes before committing capital. The facility in Sarstedt is the second in GEA's ATC network focused on biotech and new food, aiming to bridge the gap between research and industrial application in the growing sector of precision fermentation and industrial biotechnology. This investment supports Germany's federal government's priority future technologies, positioning Sarstedt as a hub for engineering and advanced technology in the biotechnology sector.
