Icelandic Prime Minister Tries Vow’s Cultivated Quail at Europe’s First Official Cultivated Meat Tasting

Australian cultivated meat firm Vow and Icelandic biotech company ORF Genetics hosted Europe's first official cultivated meat tasting event, showcasing gourmet dishes made with Vow's cultivated quail. Icelandic Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir attended the event and praised cultivated meat as a solution to the climate challenge, expressing eagerness for an EU regulatory framework to support its adoption.

ORF Genetics has partnered with Vow and other biotech companies to accelerate cultivated meat production using its platform, ORFEUS, which grows specific proteins in barley through molecular farming. Vow is on track to receive approval to produce and sell cultivated quail products in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, while also anticipating approval in the EU once a novel food product is approved by the European Food Safety Authority. Vow aims to provide sustainable and delicious cultivated meat options while contributing to the growth of the alternative proteins sector globally.
