Images from animal circuses in Italy reveal bleak reality

An undercover investigation in Italy has uncovered the harsh reality behind animal circuses, exposing systematic animal abuse and worker exploitation. The project "Il sistema circhi" by LAV and Franz Weber Foundation highlighted the poor conditions at Circo Medini, including physical abuse of animals, violation of labor conditions, and unhygienic living conditions. Disturbing footage revealed animals being trapped, beaten, and subjected to cruel treatment behind the scenes.

While 23 EU Member States have introduced restrictions or bans on using animals in circuses, Italy still permits animals to perform in circuses. LAV is urging Italian authorities to ban the use of animals in circuses to align with European countries that have taken similar measures. Concerned citizens are encouraged to support the call for ending the exploitation of animals in circuses.
