Ingredion Joins Forces with Oobli to Expand Access to Next-Gen Sweet Protein Solutions

Ingredion and Oobli have partnered to expand access to alternative sweetener solutions using sweet proteins derived from natural sources. By integrating Oobli's sweet proteins with Ingredion's portfolio, including stevia, the collaboration aims to provide low-calorie sweetener options for various food and beverage applications. The companies have tested co-developed sweetener solutions and plan to showcase them at Future Food-Tech in San Francisco.

Oobli has recently achieved regulatory milestones, receiving GRAS "no questions" letters from the FDA for two sweet proteins. The company also secured investment in an $18 million funding round, with participation from Ingredion Ventures. This partnership is a part of Ingredion's broader strategy to expand its plant-based and alternative ingredient portfolio, aiming to deliver innovative solutions in the growing category of better-for-you sweeteners.
