Subway has partnered with Swiss plant-based meat company Planted to introduce a new vegan teriyaki chicken sandwich in all of its 52 stores across Switzerland. This collaboration came about after a social media interaction where Subway promised to support Planted after a court ruling prohibited the use of terms like 'chicken' on plant-based product labels. The Planted chicken is made from pea protein, pea fibres, rapeseed oil, and salt, and is fortified with vitamin B12.

This is not Subway's first venture into plant-based meat alternatives, having previously worked with brands like Beyond Meat and The Vegetarian Butcher. The partnership with Planted is part of Subway's Swissness strategy to collaborate with local producers, and the plant-based teriyaki chicken sub is the first of many upcoming product launches with the brand. Both companies aim to show that plant-based eating can be delicious, satisfying, and better for the planet.
