Interns Save 23 Goats from Slaughter at Dairy Farm

Two interns, Jáshmin Domínguez Orozco (21) and Diya Noordman (26), saved 23 goats from slaughter at a dairy farm where they were doing their internship for paraveterinary training. The dairy farm kept around 600 female goats who were forced to give birth every year for milk production. The interns witnessed young bucks being taken to slaughter, prompting them to take action. They contacted animal rights organizations who helped find shelter for the goats. With the help of friends and family, they raised money to save all 23 goats.

The rescued goats were given a warm welcome at the shelters, with ten of them finding forever homes. The interns, along with the animal advocacy organizations involved, hope to raise awareness about the animal suffering associated with the goat milk and cheese industry. They aim to shed light on the inhumane treatment of mother goats and the high number of unwanted baby goats that are killed each year, urging consumers to reconsider their support of these products.
