Jaden Smith Is Opening a Vegan Restaurant Where Unhoused People Eat for Free

Jaden Smith is re-launching his initiative to provide free, plant-based meals to the unhoused population of Los Angeles by opening a vegan restaurant called I Love You Restaurant. Originally starting as a food truck that serviced the streets of Skid Row, the concept is evolving into a brick-and-mortar establishment where unhoused individuals can eat for free. The restaurant will also be open to everyone, with those who can afford a meal encouraged to pay-it-forward by paying more than the food’s worth to cover the cost for someone behind them.

The meals offered by I Love You Restaurant are whole food, plant-based grain bowls, and the new restaurant menu has yet to be announced. This philanthropic effort is not Smith’s first, as he is also the co-founder of 501CThree, a nonprofit that focuses on providing basic necessities to communities in need, such as the water crisis in Flint, Michigan in 2014. Through projects like The Water Box and Race X, Smith continues to work towards supporting those in need in both rural and urban settings.
