Jane Horrocks Stars In New Ad Depicting Cruelty Of ‘Christmas Turkeys’

In a new 90 second animated ad by PETA, British actor Jane Horrocks voices Tessa the Turkey as she observes strange Christmas traditions before being captured and taken to a slaughterhouse. The ad aims to shed light on the cruelty faced by millions of turkeys each year during the holiday season. Horrocks hopes the ad will encourage viewers to explore vegan options for a more compassionate Christmas.



Each year, around nine million turkeys are slaughtered in the UK for Christmas dinner. Although some may opt for free-range or "high welfare" farms, the reality is that these labels often do little to improve the animals' living conditions or treatment. Investigations have shown sick and injured turkeys left to die in overcrowded sheds, leading to calls for consumers to consider more humane choices this festive season.



The ad featuring Tessa the Turkey is part of PETA's efforts to raise awareness about the suffering of animals in the meat industry. Through powerful storytelling, PETA hopes to inspire individuals to make kinder choices and consider plant-based alternatives for their holiday meals.
