Actor and river conservationist James Murray has called on Nando’s CEO to commit to protecting UK rivers from pollution, accusing farms supplying Nando’s of contributing to pollution of the River Wye. Despite Nando’s denial of links to the pollution, Murray and other celebrities have called for action to protect Britain's rivers.

Murray, along with other high-profile figures, has signed an open letter urging Nando’s to implement a commitment to protecting rivers and has suggested swapping Avara Foods, a key supplier, for one that does not contribute to pollution. Nando’s has stated that it has a water policy in place for its chicken suppliers and is open to meeting with River Action to discuss further improvements.
