LA’s All-Vegan German Restaurant, Hinterhof, Permanently Closes

LA's first all-vegan German restaurant, Hinterhof, has sadly announced its permanent closure after over two years of serving vegan and veg-curious Angelenos. The restaurant, located in Highland Park, offered veganized versions of popular German dishes and drinks such as Jägerschnitzel, Bratwurst, Spätzle, Pretzels, Potato Pancakes, Strudel, and various brews. The decision to close was made due to the challenges of operating a restaurant during the pandemic.

Co-owners Mattias and Eric expressed that the closure was a difficult decision, but they feel it is time to say goodbye to Hinterhof. Before closing for good, the restaurant will have one last farewell event on Saturday, May 15 from 3-9pm. While the loss of Hinterhof is saddening, there is hope as the space will be taken over by another vegan restaurant in the future. More information on the new establishment will be available soon.
