Canadian fermentation group Lallemand Inc. has completed its acquisition of US enzyme producer BIO-CAT Enzymes & Microbials, founded in 1988 by Ed Schuler and his son Chris Schuler. Operating in dietary supplement, food, agriculture, and industrial markets, BIO-CAT offers enzymes, probiotics, and microbial products. The acquisition is seen as a match of values and technologies, with Chris Schuler highlighting the shared family-owned heritage, long-term vision, and commitment to customers.

For Lallemand, the deal expands its US manufacturing capacity and strengthens its position in the dietary supplement and health ingredient categories.
