Lantmännen Biorefineries Becomes Part-Owner of Pea Milk Brand Sproud

Swedish agricultural cooperative Lantmännen Biorefineries has invested in plant-based milk brand Sproud, becoming a minority stakeholder with a share of approximately 10%. Sproud, based in Sweden, produces pea-based milk alternatives that are sold in 30 countries worldwide, offering products for retail, food service, and online purchase. This investment aligns with Lantmännen Biorefineries' focus on plant-based proteins, especially with their recent loan to support the construction of a pea protein processing plant in Sweden.

Sproud has seen growth and innovation recently, with TV presenter Maya Jama becoming an investor and co-owner, as well as the launch of new products like Barista ZERO and a pea-based 2-in-1 product for cooking and whipping. CEO Sara Berger notes the increased demand for plant-based products globally, driven by health, sustainability, and consumer interest in the food of the future. The partnership with Lantmännen Biorefineries is seen as a positive step in strengthening Sproud's presence and knowledge in the pea protein value chain, positioning the brand for continued growth and success.
