The Lantmännen Research Foundation has opened a SEK 25 million funding call for grain, legume, and bio-based material research in three focus areas: agriculture and machinery, food and health, and bioenergy and green materials. The foundation is prioritizing research into grain and legume-based foods and bio-based materials, supporting projects related to nutrition, whole grain consumption, functional properties of plant-based raw materials, and converting agricultural raw materials into biofuels and other bio-based products.

This funding opportunity follows a SEK 300 million capital contribution from the Swedish agricultural cooperative Lantmännen to extend the foundation's capacity to fund external research. Since 1986, the foundation has funded research across the agricultural value chain, with around 20 projects supported annually. Researchers are encouraged to contact the foundation before submitting applications to discuss project ideas and available resources for collaboration.
