Meatable and Pelagen Partner to Improve Scalability of Cultivated Leather

Meatable, a cultivated meat company, has partnered with animal-free leather producer Pelagen to enhance the efficiency and scalability of cultivated leather production. Through the collaboration, Pelagen will explore the use of Meatable's opti-ox technology to program stem cells into skin tissue, ultimately aiming to lower costs, improve quality, and increase speed and efficiency. This partnership signifies Meatable's expansion into the leather industry, as they continue to revolutionize sustainable production methods.

Meatable recently achieved a production milestone, producing cultivated sausages in just four days, and received funding from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency to further improve productivity and reduce costs. The company was also recognized on TIME's Best Inventions of 2024 list for their opti-ox technology, which enables the production of cultivated meat from a single sample of cells within days.
