Melhoramentos Expands Stake in W-Cycle’s Compostable Packaging That Survives -40°C to 220°C

Brazilian company Melhoramentos has increased its investment in Israeli clean-tech firm W-Cycle, focusing on producing compostable, plastic-free food containers. The partnership integrates Melhoramentos' sustainably managed forest cellulose fibers into W-Cycle's SupraPulp material, allowing for the manufacturing of molded fiber containers resistant to extreme temperatures and moisture without plastic lamination. This collaboration aligns with Melhoramentos' strategy to address environmental challenges by repurposing raw materials in innovative ways.

W-Cycle targets high-growth packaging sectors such as foodservice and food delivery, offering finished packaging solutions and formulations for other fiber-based manufacturers. With the additional funding from Melhoramentos, W-Cycle plans to expand its R&D operations, develop new product formulations, and scale commercial activities. This investment will support the company's transition to large-scale deployment and accelerate its revenue growth, according to W-Cycle CEO Isaac Rome.
