Melt&Marble, a Swedish biotechnology company, has successfully completed an $8.2 million fundraising round to scale its designer fats for use in beauty and food products. These designer fats, produced using precision fermentation, offer superior taste, functionality, and health outcomes compared to traditional fats. The fundraising round was led by Industrifonden and included backing from various partners such as Beiersdorf and the European Commission’s European Innovation Council (EIC), bringing Melt&Marble's total financing to over $11.4 million.

With this new funding, Melt&Marble is set to launch its precision fermented fats in personal care applications next year and is preparing to enter the US food market. The company aims to deliver sustainable, high-performance ingredients to various industries, including plant-based foods, confectionery, and personal care. This success in fundraising aligns with a growing trend of investors urging food companies to divest from animal products to ensure sustainable and resilient supply chains in the future.
