Hamburg-based MicroHarvest is expanding its presence in the European pet food market with the launch of over 15 new products scheduled for mid-2026. The company produces protein through fermentation of regional agri-food side streams, offering a low-carbon, hypoallergenic alternative to conventional meat proteins for cats and dogs. Its ingredient is already available in over 1,800 retail locations in Germany, with repeat orders indicating commercial viability and consumer acceptance beyond the trial phase.

Several partners, including Hey Bones, Vetura, and aniAMA, are collaborating with MicroHarvest to launch new products incorporating its protein ingredient. This expansion marks a shift towards strong portfolio growth, with partners scaling volumes and integrating the ingredient into multiple products. To support the increasing demand, MicroHarvest is building a large-scale production facility in Leuna, Germany, with a planned capacity of 15,000 tonnes per year and expected completion by the end of 2027.
