More Than Half Of Brits Unaware Cows Must Be Impregnated To Produce Milk, Survey Finds

A recent survey conducted in the UK revealed that more than half of Brits are unaware that cows must be impregnated annually in order to produce milk. Additionally, 83 percent of respondents were unaware that calves are separated from their mothers within 24 hours of birth, and only 82 percent knew that dairy cows are typically slaughtered at a young age. These findings shed light on a lack of understanding about the dairy industry and the treatment of cows.

The dairy industry has long kept the realities of cow exploitation hidden from the public, with misleading marketing and depictions of happy cows in green fields. However, investigations have uncovered widespread suffering on dairy farms, including cows being hit, shackled, and subjected to harsh conditions. Animal rights groups are urging the public to consider the suffering of cows and to recognize that milk is intended for calves, not humans.
