Mosa Meat Requests UK Market Authorisation After Joining FSA’s Regulatory Sandbox

Dutch cultivated meat producer Mosa Meat has submitted its first application for market approval in the United Kingdom, focusing on cultivated fat that can be blended with plant-based ingredients to create beef-style dishes. This comes after Mosa Meat joined the UK Food Standards Agency's regulatory sandbox for cultivated meat and seafood, aiming to accelerate the authorisation process for novel proteins with government funding of £1.6 million.

Having made headlines in 2013 with the world's first cultivated beef burger, Mosa Meat has continued to progress towards commercialization by requesting market authorisation for its cultivated fat in the EU and Switzerland. With plans to launch consumer-ready burgers and a commitment to building a diverse and resilient food system, Mosa Meat recently raised €1.5 million in just 24 minutes through a crowdfunding campaign, showcasing strong support for its innovative approach to sustainable protein production.
