Multus Launches Animal-Free Alternative to Fetal Bovine Serum for Cultivated Meat

British biotech company Multus has launched Proliferum B, an animal component-free alternative to fetal bovine serum (FBS) aimed at accelerating cultivated meat production. Developed using Multus’ machine learning-driven system, Proliferum B addresses the high costs, reliability issues, and ethical concerns associated with FBS, allowing cultivated meat companies to progress and scale faster. The product has been tested against FBS on various cell types, demonstrating superior performance with shorter doubling times and consistent results.
