Animal rights group PETA has conducted an investigation into Vietnamese frog meat farms, revealing widespread abuse of frogs in the industry. The footage obtained shows workers mutilating, skinning, and dismembering conscious frogs with pincers and scissors. In addition, workers were seen putting live frogs in bags and dumping them in ice water, a method that PETA claims is ineffective in stunning the animals.

Vietnam supplies around 20% of the European frog leg market, with the frog farming industry expanding since the 2000s. Despite the country's animal health laws recognizing animals' sentience and the duty of care towards them, the frog-breeding facilities documented by PETA operated with callous disregard for the animals' well-being. The group is urging people to go vegan to help prevent the suffering of frogs and stop the mistreatment in frog meat farms.
