New Tetra Pak Bioreactor Promises Lower Costs From Pilot to Full-Scale Fermentation

Tetra Pak has introduced the Tetra Pak® Bioreactor RF, their first industrial bioreactor, aimed at producers scaling up fermentation-derived ingredients from pilot testing to full industrial production. The vessel comes in sizes ranging from 10 to 50,000 litres and promises to reduce operational costs by up to 12% and lower investment costs by up to 8%. This is achieved through a pre-assembled, factory-tested construction that eliminates the need for separate support structures, as well as a magnetic agitation system that eliminates contamination risks commonly found in conventional bioreactor designs.

The bioreactor features automation capabilities such as self-adjusting controls and integrated data monitoring to reduce the need for manual intervention as fermentation processes evolve. All Tetra Pak® Bioreactor RF units share the same design platform, control logic, and operating approach regardless of size, simplifying training and operation for producers running multiple scales or sites. This launch comes after Tetra Pak's acquisition of Bioreactors.net and the opening of their New Food Technology Development Centre, showing their commitment to innovation and efficiency in the fermentation industry.
