New Wave Biotech and the UK’s Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) have teamed up to tackle challenges in lipid extraction, a crucial process in industries like food, personal care, and pharmaceuticals. By utilizing AI-powered simulations, the collaboration aims to optimize both solvent-based and non-solvent methods for extracting lipids, improving efficiency and reducing reliance on trial-and-error approaches. The goal is to use New Wave Biotech’s hybrid AI platform to predict the performance, cost, and sustainability of different extraction methods, ultimately accelerating the scaling of more sustainable lipid-based alternatives.

This partnership comes at a time of increasing demand for lipid-based ingredients across sectors, with traditional methods proving to be energy-intensive and reliant on toxic chemicals. New Wave Biotech's platform has shown significant accuracy in predicting results, surpassing industry standards. Supported by an Innovate UK grant, this project is expected to expedite the development of scalable and sustainable lipid extraction technologies, benefiting both industries and consumers.
