No Meat Factory to End US Production, Closing Plant Two Years After Opening

No Meat Factory, a Canadian contract manufacturer specializing in plant-based proteins, will be closing its production facility in Stanwood, Washington, cutting 123 jobs in the process. The closure comes just two years after the plant began operations, with production staff being the most impacted by the layoffs. This decision to close the facility was disclosed in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing, as required by the federal WARN Act.

The company had invested up to $20 million in converting the Stanwood facility, with support from Washington’s Department of Commerce and Economic Alliance Snohomish County. No Meat Factory, which operates on a contract basis and raised significant funding in a Series B round in January 2023, will now focus its production solely at its facility in British Columbia. The closure of the US plant marks a significant change in the company's operational footprint.
