NoPalm Ingredients, a Dutch biotech company, has established its first Demonstration Factory at the Food Innovation Campus in Ede in partnership with NIZO Food Research. The company produces alternatives to palm oil through a fermentation process using upcycled agrifood sidestreams, which will now all take place under one roof at the new facility. This consolidation is expected to save time, reduce costs, and accelerate scaling, marking the company's transition from pilot to commercial-scale production.

The factory will initially produce several hundred tons of fats per year, eventually expanding to more than 1,200 tons. The site will also allow for testing new raw materials and process improvements to ensure reliable deliveries to raw material suppliers and oil product buyers. With funding secured and a new brand introduced, NoPalm Ingredients is on track to become a leader in yeast oil production, showing the industry that sustainable oil alternatives can be produced at a large scale.
