Novella Partners With Metaphor Foods to Commercialize Preservatives Made With Plant Cell Cultivation

Novella Innovative Technology, an Israeli biotech startup, has partnered with Australian company Metaphor Foods to commercialize natural preservatives made using plant cell cultivation. Novella's AuraCell platform enables the growth of zero-waste bioactive compounds with guaranteed consistency, reducing resource use by 99%. Through the collaboration, natural antioxidant and anti-microbial compounds will be created for Metaphor Foods' Hela Natvance® range of natural food protection solutions.

The long-term supply relationship, valued at $10 million over seven years, aims to establish ingredient availability, manufacturing readiness, and consistent quality at scale. The partnership is expected to meet the increasing demand for natural, clean-label ingredients in the food industry. Novella's technology has shown promising results in lab trials, replacing current natural antioxidants while reducing costs and extending shelf life by 30%. The commercial launch of the product is slated for the beginning of next year, offering a new approach to natural preservation for food products.
