Counter Culture, a beloved vegan restaurant in Austin, closed in 2022 due to rising costs and declining foot traffic. However, owner Sue Davis is now working to bring it back with a Kickstarter campaign. The new space, set to open in mid-summer 2026 in the Windsor Park neighborhood, will serve as a mid-century-themed vegan diner and community hub.

The Kickstarter has already raised nearly $42,000 of its $45,000 goal, with backers receiving merchandise like T-shirts and mugs. Davis hopes to not only reopen the restaurant but also create local jobs and contribute to Austin's thriving vegan scene. Supporting the campaign will help fund the final equipment, signage, inventory, insurance, and pre-opening payroll needed to bring Counter Culture back to its rightful place in the community.
