Opalia Announces “First Ever” Commercial Supply Agreement for Cell-Based Dairy

Canadian cell-based dairy producer Opalia has signed a commercial supply agreement with major dairy ingredient provider Hoogwegt, marking the first-ever agreement of its kind. The partnership, which will run for two years, aims to create sustainable cell-based dairy products and showcase their global potential. Opalia's technology will be combined with Hoogwegt's expertise in dairy products and global markets spanning over 130 countries.

Opalia, founded in 2020, is focused on creating dairy products without the need for cows using patent-pending technology. By eliminating fetal bovine serum from its process, the company has reduced production costs significantly. With support from Hoogwegt and interest from large food and dairy corporations, Opalia is preparing for scaling and commercialization. The company is optimistic about meeting more commercial partners and investors and looks forward to showcasing its products at tasting events to regulators soon.
