A patent battle between Finnish precision fermentation company Onego Bio and The EVERY Company over ovalbumin production has narrowed to Delaware after a federal judge in Wisconsin dismissed the lawsuit due to lack of personal jurisdiction. The dispute originated in September 2025, with Onego Bio arguing that EVERY's patent was invalid and interfered with its investor relationships. EVERY disputes this and claims that Onego initiated contact seeking a license before filing suit.

The Wisconsin court ruling avoided addressing the merits of the patent dispute, stating that the claims are already being litigated in Delaware. While Onego Bio has been planning a production facility in Wisconsin, CEO of The EVERY Company, Arturo Elizondo, welcomed the ruling, emphasizing the need to focus on building a better food system rather than engaging in expensive litigation.
