Over 130 UK Nurseries Get Access To Vegan Food Options

Over 130 nurseries in the UK will now offer plant-based food options in an effort to encourage children to make healthier food choices. Nursery Kitchen has partnered with food brand Gosh! to introduce vegan meals and snacks like Sweet Potato Pakora and Mediterranean Falafel to their menus. This initiative comes in response to concerning reports about children's nutrition habits, with studies showing that a majority of children rely on ultra-processed foods for energy and one fifth of children are overweight or obese when they start school.

Last year, a petition called for schools to provide a vegan meal option every day to accommodate vegan children and students according to the Equality Act. Despite some controversy around offering vegan meals to children, plant-based diets are known for their health benefits and positive impact on the environment. Eating vegan can reduce an individual's carbon footprint by up to 73 percent and is considered essential by experts to combat climate collapse caused by animal agriculture.
