Authorities in Ohio rescued over 250 nonhuman wild animals, including foxes, coyotes, wolf-dog hybrids, and skunks from a fur and urine farm in Ashtabula County due to horrific conditions. The animals were kept in cages and were found missing limbs, ears, tails, and other body parts. Some had died covered in snow, while others were starving and severely dehydrated. The owner of the farm, who bred and slaughtered animals for their fur and urine, passed away, prompting the rescue operation.

The rescued animals were taken to wildlife rehabilitation facilities and animal sanctuaries. Some animals had to be euthanized due to critical injuries or sickness. Animal welfare organizations described the situation as one of the most horrific they had ever seen, with immense suffering and cruelty. Despite the traumatic experience, the rescued animals were reported to be traumatized and timid, without displaying aggression.
