Palmer Holland Adds Precision-Fermented Lactoferrin to Personal Care Portfolio Through FerrinX Partnership

North American specialty ingredient distributor Palmer Holland has partnered with US biotechnology company FerrinX to distribute NanoFerrin, a precision-fermented form of lactoferrin, to cosmetic and personal care brands in the region. Scheduled for commercial production later this year, NanoFerrin offers a multifunctional bioactive for skincare, targeting pigmentation, blemish-prone skin, and skin structure through a single ingredient.

Traditionally sourced from bovine milk in small amounts, lactoferrin has been limited in commercial use due to cost, scalability, and batch consistency issues. FerrinX's process utilizes microbial fermentation to produce lactoferrin without animal inputs, making it compatible with vegan and cruelty-free formulations. The partnership between Palmer Holland and FerrinX positions NanoFerrin as a clinically grounded, multifunctional ingredient that aligns with biotechnology-enabled skincare trends, offering benefits such as neutralizing iron deposits, disrupting acne-causing bacteria growth, and stimulating collagen and hyaluronic acid production in skin cells.
