PETA vs. Petco: From Powerful Protests to an Iggy Pop Plea

PETA's latest investigation into Petco's supply chain led to citations for thousands of violations of the federal Animal Welfare Act. The investigation uncovered extreme cruelty at Creekside Birds, a parakeet breeder in Petco's supply chain, where birds were found with their heads ripped off, necks crushed, and left to suffer without veterinary care. Nearly 1,400 birds were documented dead in just 27 days, with 10,000 parakeets crammed into filthy cages.

PETA is urging the public to boycott Petco until it stops selling birds, and has initiated bold protests across the country to raise awareness about the cruelty in Petco's supply chain. Music legend Iggy Pop also stood up to Petco executives during the company's shareholder meeting, demanding an end to bird sales. Ending all bird sales at Petco is seen as the necessary next step to prevent further animal suffering.
