Pets Choice Acquires Vegan Dog Food Brand HOWND

Pets Choice has acquired vegan dog food brand HOWND, expanding its product offerings to include plant-based dog foods, wellness treats, and cruelty-free pet care products. The acquisition will see Pets Choice taking over sales responsibilities from Power Pet Brands from early August, furthering the company's commitment to sustainability and animal welfare. This move marks Pets Choice's entrance into the fast-growing plant-based sector and demonstrates a shift towards premiumization of its products.

HOWND, formerly known as Butch & Bess, was founded in 2015 by Mark Hirschel and Jo Amit. The brand has received accreditations from organizations like Cruelty Free International, PETA, and the Vegan Society, with a high rating from the Good Shopping Guide. As the pet food industry has a significant negative impact on the environment, Pets Choice's expansion into plant-based companion animal food is seen as a positive step towards sustainability and improved companion animal health. With the acquisition, HOWND's products are expected to become more widely available through Pets Choice's distribution network in the coming months.
