Planted Doubles Production Capacity with New Production Site in Bavaria

Swiss company Planted has opened a new production facility in Memmingen, Bavaria, to increase production capacity for its plant-based meat products. The facility, featuring advanced fermentation technology, will focus on producing biostructured proteins, particularly the popular planted.steak. This new plant will initially double Planted's total production output, catering to its largest export market in Germany and improving logistics efficiency.

The decision to locate in Memmingen was influenced by the availability of skilled labor, the area's history of food production, and strong infrastructure. The site, expected to create 50 new jobs, was designed with an emphasis on sustainability, using groundwater cooling and a sustainable energy system to minimize environmental impact. The company's proprietary fermentation process allows for the production of plant-based muscle structures, such as the newly launched planted.steak Paprika, and plans for additional steak products later in 2025. Additionally, a media campaign featuring brand ambassador Christian Stucki has been launched in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland to promote Planted's innovative products and sustainable practices.
