Portland’s Homegrown Smoker Faces Permanent Closure This Month

Portland’s beloved vegan barbecue spot, Homegrown Smoker, is facing permanent closure unless a buyer steps in to save the business. Founded by Jeff Ridabock in 2009, Homegrown Smoker is known for creating the first all-vegan barbecue in the world. Over the years, the menu has drawn in fans with smoked soy curls, tempeh ribs, mac ‘n’ cheese, and more, proving that vegan food can be exciting and delicious.

After working as a chef and meat salesman, Ridabock decided to retire, prompting the potential closure of Homegrown Smoker. If a buyer does not come forward by December 19, the restaurant’s last day of service, the business will come to an end. Despite the uncertain future, Homegrown Smoker expressed gratitude to their loyal customers and staff for their support over the past 13 years.
