Continuous biomanufacturing company Pow.Bio, in partnership with Bühler Group and ATV Technologies, has successfully scaled up its platform to 3,000 liters at ATV's facility in France. The project resulted in three times more high-quality dairy protein compared to traditional fed-batch processes, showcasing the potential of continuous fermentation at larger scales. Bühler supported the project by pre-qualifying the site, adapting infrastructure for continuous operation, and facilitating a smooth technology transfer.

The collaboration led to a reduction of projected costs by over 50% and improved process outcomes through advanced machine learning algorithms and model predictive control systems. This achievement demonstrates the economic viability and scalability of Pow.Bio's continuous fermentation platform, paving the way for faster market entry for customers in various biomanufacturing industries. This milestone signifies a significant advancement in continuous operation at larger scales, particularly in food, feed, and ingredient biomanufacturing markets, according to Thierry Duvanel, Director of Innovation at Bühler Group.
