Nine people in Idaho have been hospitalized with "serious illness" after consuming raw dairy milk from the same producer. Central District Health confirmed that the cases were linked to R Bar H Dairy and that some individuals had confirmed Shiga toxin–producing Escherichia coli (STEC) infections. Two children have been hospitalized with hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a serious complication of E. coli infection.

The agency has advised consumers to avoid raw dairy, discard any remaining milk, and seek medical care if they experience symptoms like severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, or vomiting after consuming raw milk. Idaho has seen an increase in illnesses linked to raw dairy consumption recently, with cases of Campylobacter and STEC infections reported in the past year. While raw milk consumption is legal, health experts warn of the serious health risks associated with unpasteurized dairy, especially for vulnerable populations like young children and the elderly.
