Re:meat Partners With Biotech Heights to Establish Pilot Cellular Agriculture Facility in Sweden

Swedish startup Re:meat has teamed up with Biotech Heights to establish a pilot facility called the Re:meatery in Lund, Sweden. Biotech Heights aims to use biotechnology to transform food and material systems and support industries like cultivated meat, precision fermentation, and alternative food production. Re:meat, the first startup member at Biotech Heights, claims its patented technology can significantly reduce the cost of hardware for cultivated meat and other bioprocesses.

Re:meat recently received €1 million in funding and plans to use the funds to establish the Re:meatery at Lund University Prepilot Plant. This facility will be fitted with food-grade bioreactors that can cultivate mammalian cells and support various processes beyond cultivated meat. The partnership between Re:meat and Biotech Heights is seen as a move towards collaboration between academia, startups, and industry players within biosolutions.
