Residents of the English Town of Anwick Oppose Proposed Chicken Manure Biogas Plant 

Residents of the English town of Anwick in Lincolnshire, UK, are strongly opposing a proposed biogas plant that would use chicken manure as its primary fuel. The local action group, Anwick Action Group, has voiced concerns about the facility, which aims to process 120,000 tonnes of waste materials annually and inject the resulting gas into the national grid. At least 650 residents have signed an online petition against the project, citing worries about the size of the facility, potential odours, and the impact on their quality of life.

The proposed site would feature eight digester tanks reaching 25 meters high and a processing building, with the closest homes just 200 meters away. Local leaders, including Elaine Coulson and Councillor Mervyn Head, have expressed their opposition to the plant, highlighting the potential harm it could cause to the residents of Anwick. The final decision on the application rests with Lincolnshire County Council, with the public currently able to submit their comments on the project.
