Ricky Gervais Hopes to Surpass £1.9 Million Donation to Animal Charities with New Tour

Ricky Gervais, the BAFTA, Emmy, and Golden Globe-winning comedian, actor, and director, plans to surpass the £1.9 million he previously donated to animal charities with profits from his current stand-up tour, Mortality. Known for his role in After Life, Gervais raised £1.9 million through ticket sales from his Armageddon tour in 2023, which supported 11 animal charities worldwide. By selling premium seats at higher prices and donating the difference, Gervais not only raises funds for animals but also discourages ticket scalping.

A committed vegan, Gervais has spoken openly about his ethical motivations, stating that he does a lot for animal charities and feels it would be hypocritical to save dogs but eat sheep. In addition to financial contributions, Gervais has campaigned against trophy hunting, animal testing, and the illegal wildlife trade, earning accolades such as PETA's Person of the Year award in 2013.
