RIPA Launches to Unite Industry Leaders and Tackle Italy’s Policy Vacuum

The newly established RIPA – Italian Network for Alternative Proteins aims to unify industry leaders in Italy's plant-based market, which has reached €639 million. The network seeks to convert retail success into institutional support by bringing together companies, non-profit organizations, and research institutions to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable food system. RIPA plans to advocate for public policies that support the food transition and provide members with strategic data monitoring, research, and networking opportunities.

RIPA draws on data showing a 7.6% increase in plant-based retail sales in 2024, reflecting consumer behavior changes towards plant-based alternatives. Inspired by the successful Danish model, RIPA aims to create a unified voice in institutional settings to support the plant-based sector's competitiveness. By collaborating with stakeholders and advocating for supportive public policies, RIPA aims to enhance innovative companies and promote greater production and consumption of plant-based foods in Italy and Europe.
