Rival Foods: Plant-Based Meat Startup Lands $11.5M for Clean-Label Whole Cuts

Dutch food tech firm Rival Foods has raised €10M ($11.5M) in funding to expand its line of whole-cut plant-based meats, offering products with minimal ingredients and high protein content. Using shear-cell technology to replicate animal muscle fibers, the company aims to provide plant-based alternatives with improved taste, texture, and fewer processing steps. The funding round was led by Dutch pension fund ABP and will help Rival Foods scale up its production capacity and reach price parity with conventional meat.

Rival Foods' focus on whole-cut meat alternatives addresses consumer demand for products that closely mimic the texture of animal-based meats. With a portfolio including chicken and beef products, the startup aims to meet the growing interest in plant-based options that offer a satisfying bite and clean label.
