Rival Foods Raises €10M to Scale Production of Clean-Label Plant-Based Whole Cuts

Dutch food-tech scale-up Rival Foods has secured €10 million in Series B funding to expand production of their clean-label plant-based whole cuts. The company, founded in 2019, focuses on developing plant-based meat alternatives without additives, aiming to make their products cost-competitive with animal meat. With this investment, Rival Foods plans to double production capacity, scale their manufacturing technology, and expand internationally through partnerships with major players in the food industry.

Rival Foods, a spin-off from Wageningen University & Research, takes a B2B-first approach by collaborating with chefs, retailers, and food brands in Europe. Offering products with over 25g of protein per 100g and less than seven clean-label ingredients, the company sees opportunity for growth in the whole cut segment of the plant-based meat category. They aim to provide high-quality, nutritious, and price-competitive options to cater to the increasing demand for sustainable and alternative protein sources.
