Robert Downey Jr. Helps Vegan Steak Brand Raise $15 Million

Robert Downey Jr. has recently invested in a US vegan steak brand called Chunk Foods, helping the company raise $15 million in funding. The actor, known for his roles in popular movies like Iron Man, believes in plant-based diets and has backed Chunk Foods through his financing company, FootPrint Coalition. Chunk Foods aims to create delicious and nutritious plant-based whole cuts that are environmentally friendly and accessible to all, offering beef currently and planning to release pork, lamb, and poultry in the future.

The company uses solid state technology to produce its products, incorporating soy flour and food-grade microorganisms instead of protein isolates. Its steaks are fortified with B12 and iron and are available in several restaurants in New York City, with plans to expand across the US later this year. The CEO of Chunk Foods, Amos Golan, stated that their technology allows for precise control over the texture, nutritional profile, and appearance of the final product, without the need for binders or gums and with minimal processing.
