RZA Teams up with Violife to Award Five Black-Owned Restaurants $100K

Legendary hip-hop artist RZA and vegan cheese brand Violife have awarded five Black-owned restaurants with $100k in Plant Grants. The program aims to address the challenges faced by Black-owned restaurants and communities by making plant-based eating more accessible and delicious. RZA, a vocal advocate for veganism, sees this initiative as a way to inspire more people to eat plant-based in his community and the US.

The 2021 Plant Grants recipients include restaurants like Seasoned Vegan in New York City and Meek’s Vegan Pizza in Houston. Each restaurant will receive mentoring from established chefs to develop plant-based dishes and engage with their communities. The program marks the first year of a planned annual initiative to promote plant-based eating in local communities.
