SaladStop, an Asian fast-casual chain with locations across the Asia-Pacific region, has committed to sourcing at least 60% of its protein options from plant-based sources globally. The company, which serves over five million diners a year across more than 80 locations, aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030 and sees the shift to plant-based proteins as a crucial step in lowering its carbon footprint.
Recognizing the environmental impact of livestock farming, SaladStop views plant-based proteins as a sustainable alternative that can help reduce emissions, water pollution, and land use. As Asia-Pacific is a key market for climate-friendly foods, the company's pledge to increase plant-based protein offerings is seen as an industry-leading example that other food service companies can follow. By incorporating a variety of plant-based ingredients into its menus, SaladStop hopes to provide customers with delicious and nutritious options while contributing to a more sustainable food system.
