Scottish Fish Farming Giant Expands Operations to Remote Islands

Scottish fish farming company Mowi has acquired two uninhabited islands off the west coast of Scotland, Sanda Island and Fladda-Chuain, in an effort to expand its operations and increase profits. The company plans to establish salmon farms on these islands, despite the existing infrastructure and historical significance. Mowi's acquisition and development of these islands are met with concern from animal rights activists, as the farming of fish in Scotland has caused immense suffering and destruction.

Mowi currently operates 48 fish farms producing over 68,000 tonnes of salmon annually and has been responsible for a significant portion of animal exploitation in the UK. The company's plans for the newly acquired islands, including the suffering of millions of fishes, have raised ethical and environmental concerns among the public.
