SeaWith Partners with ORF Genetics to Produce Han-Woo Cultivated Beef with Plant-Based Growth Factors

SeaWith, a South Korean biotech company, has partnered with ORF Genetics, an Icelandic molecular farming company, to accelerate the production of cultivated meat using plant-based growth factors. SeaWith plans to introduce Han-Woo cultivated beef products under the "Welldone" brand to the market by 2025. This collaboration will secure SeaWith a stable supply of ORF Genetics's animal-free growth factors and will also include joint research and development initiatives for cultivated meat production.

ORF Genetics produces animal-free growth factors using proteins grown in barley, aiming to strengthen its position in the cultivated meat market with its MESOkine brand. SeaWith, on the other hand, uses microalgae technology to produce scaffoldings and growth materials without relying on fetal bovine serum. The partnership with ORF Genetics will help SeaWith secure materials for stable mass production of cultured meat, with plans to commercialize their own brand of products by 2025.
